Chief Election Commissioner should be the guardian of India's constitutional democracy as well as secularism

" The time has come for the Chief Election Commission to save the nation and its constitution, by being more vigilant and strict on the standards that political parties not only proclaim but practice election norms of secular politics, while seeking registration as a political party fit for seeking public votes. Chief Election Commissioner has been called upon to scrupulously scrutinize election like criminal antecedents. The time has come for election commissioner to begin from the beginning and before registering any political group for elections at all levels, and throw out any applicant, if its securer credentials are not clear and /or tainted or suspect. Public interventions must be sought and invited to clear the credentials of the group, so that spurious political parties with long record of playing truant with constitutional norms, should be debarred in all their avatars, for participating India's democratic elections with hidden communal agenda. The sinister conspiracies to subvert Indian democracy should be nipped in bud, at the very start of the election process. "

Comments: BJP's release of a very controversial CD against Muslims, has attracted the attention of UP's Election Commissioner, and on former Prime Minister V. P. Singh's request to cancel the registration of BJP as a political party, EC has filed criminal FIR against BJP President Rajnath Singh and others, as well as issued notice to BJP, why they should not be debarred from the UP elections, currently underway. BJP is under terrible pressure and it has denied that as a party it has released any such CD, though IBN7, the TV Channel has shown extensive coverage of BJP official ceremoniously handing out campaign CDs. The CDs are already available in public at Rs.20/. It will be difficult though not impossible for BJP to wiggle out of this faux paus. However, this will be a grave warning to Sangh Parivar, not to be over confident about its ability to push its communal agenda, with impunity.
