Some cheek!

Sonia’s war cry against the detractors of Congress’s almost obsessive commitment to Bush to deliver 123 agreement with all its obnoxious attachments, has come like a bolt from the blue.

An ever smiling visage of the Sonia that has been in the media images in the recent days, almost copying the US election media coverage of Hillary Clinton’s loud laughter, as a positive image making exercise, has been shattered by her shrill high pitched reading of the text at a Haryana rally, in the manner of her late mother in law, Indira Gandhi, branding as ‘enemies of progress’, all those who disagreed with her party or rather her party’s Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh’s commitment to ram the Indo-US civilian nuclear agreement down the unwilling throats of the majority of aware Indians, including the across the board membership of the Lok Sabha.

For the cynics like me, it is not Sonia that was speaking; it was Bush, the Almighty himself, who was throwing the gauntlet to Indian people: If you are not with us, you are against us.

Congress under Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi is not willing to give any importance to the opposing arguments, that what is good for the Brahmins of India is not necessarily good for the country. People who are not blinded by economic hubris to forget that in bargain, India could completely lose its independence, freedom and even its sovereignty or whatever is left of it. India would be open for exploitation in the same manner as East India Company has subverted the whole governance to take over India, in the name of British Crown.

More than the economic potential of India’s new status as an emerging powerhouse that could contribute to world economy and trade, India’s immediate relevance to the US is its potential as a defence partner, to further the US/Israeli game-plan to confront China and wage the next armed conflict on the soil of Asia. War is essential part of America’s economic survival. It opens untold economic opportunities for its industry, financial institutions, defence establishments; it extended partnerships all over the world. It is doubtful if there has been enough debate in India at any level to find out, if the US great game in the subcontinent will be of any worth to the people of India itself. The people are not fully made aware, how a war of the kind that Europe has fought under the direct manipulations of the Jewish conspirators in the last century, will bleed our nation, just as it wiped out millions in the last World Wars.

First and last, both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia should explain to the people of India, if they can guarantee, India never entering any armed conflict situation with its neighbours. And that process starts with the fully ability and liberty to designate who is our friend and who is not. If India’s foreign policy comes under a US cloud, right from the start of a strategic partnership, how can India defend itself from the overpowering dominance of US policymakers, in dictating each and every move of our people? Why Mani Shankar Aiyer or Natwar Singh were relieved from their cabinet portfolio at the behest of the US is nothing secret. If fact it is a major national scandal of the first order. How a foreign power, friend or foe, can interfere in India’s internal affairs at the highest level of its governance and get away with it.

Take the example of Gordon Brown. The sooner he came to power in UK after Blair resigned; he started to distance his government from the US agenda on Iraq. He made it clear to President Bush; he is not willing to carry on the Blair poodle act when his people are so thoroughly against UK being involved in Iraq war. Observe how Bush has now turned against Brown and all the leverages are in place to see that he and his labour party loses the next election. This is pure and simple blackmail. Bush is not willing to let people go, once they are in his grip.

There is a lesson for India in this episode. Not to give any leverages to the US, or India will ever remain under US thumbs. Indian negotiators should have spine to thrash out deal with the US. Here, when they are asked to bent, they are ready to crawl. The Left factor, in fact, has a God given opportunity to factor in the people of India into any dealings with the bully that is the US.

There is no doubt, once India gets more involved in the US strategic partnership, Indian forces will be forced to join America’s wars of occupation all around the world. Is Indian blood is so cheap that it could be made freely available to the foreign war-monger to be spilled at its sole pleasure? The total scenario of the ‘strategic partnership’ with the US, is not fully understood by the people of India and Manmohan Singh is personally guilty of being instrumental in framing the whole issue as that of economic progress and not as world security and India’s role in it.

Either Manmohan Singh has been brainwashed by the wily US operators or he is being blackmailed or he is completely unmindful of the dangers that the highly risky partnership with the US that India will be exposed to. He should be made to understand that he is accountable to the people of India. He is not a dictator that can impose his will on India and get away with it. Even Sonia Gandhi’s bona fide is sure to come under pressure once again, now that she is willing to sign on the dotted lines, to become a satellite state of the USA. Her Italian origin is just about set aside by the people of India and even her political rivals. By anointing Rahul Gandhi as the next candidate for the job of the Prime Minister of India in a rush rush job, if she thinks, people will willingly accept her dynastic proclivities; she is merely keeping one of her flanks open for the public and the opposition to bring the party down.

The questions that the Communists are raising cannot be summarily brushed aside as party politics. They have much wider implications and repercussions. It is a very crucial national issue that should be addressed, discussed and thrashed out dispassionately across the all political lines. The tactic Congress is using is so abhorrently anti-democratic, so warped and slavish, that it is they that should be branded as ‘enemies of the nation’.
